Jamia Training Institute offers courses at competitive rates and is set up in a serene and Islamic environment. The institute currently has three departments:

1) Information Technology
2) Cloth Making technology
3) Islamic and Arabic studies

Information Technology Department
The department is serviced by a computer laboratory; equipped and manned by qualified and experienced lecturers. The department offers the following courses:

A) Foundation Diploma
This course equips the student with the skills required in the ever dynamic and demanding Information technology environment. On completion, the student will be able to work in an organization reliant fully on Information Technology.

The course is also a stepping stone for more advanced courses of Information Management Information Systems (IMIS), MIS and KNEC diploma.

The minimum entry requirement for the course is an overall grade of C - (minus). The course duration is 6 months. The course has 2 parts:

1) Foundation Diploma Part 1 ( 3 Months - Kshs 6,500)
Subjects covered:

• Computer Awareness

• Basic computer arithmetic

• Application computer packages

2) Foundation Diploma Part 2 ( 3 months - Kshs 6,500)
Subjects covered:

• Fundamentals of book keeping

• Networking

• Application computer packaging

To qualify one must have succesfully completed Foundation Diploma 1

Course Program

Introduction to computers - Kshs 1,600
A comprehensive course that introduces the beginner to the world of computers in general

Internet Course - Kshs 2,100
A comprehensive course of elctronic mail management, browsing and searching and sharing of information on the net

Word Processing - Kshs 1,600
A course that introduces you to computer typing and hence professional formatting of business related documents

Electronis Spreadsheets - Kshs 1,600
Allows you to create professional spread sheets and charts.

Database Management - Kshs 1,600
A powerful program to create and manage records electronically

Graphic and Type Setting - Kshs 3,000
The program enables you to design and create customised graphics such as newsletters, brochures, flyers etc and publish them on your computer printer.

Web Design - Kshs 3,000
A comprehensive, detailed course using pwerful tools and techniques on planning, organising, creating and finally publishing on the Internet.

Cloth Making Technology
The course is suitable for people who would like to venture into self employment in the sector of cloth making.

A broad spectrum of cloth making skills are offered in this department. By the end of this course,the students shall be in a position to make African traditional wear, children clothing, office wear amongst other designs.

The skills acquired in the embroidery section shall enable the students to designa and develop various embroidery artifacts for both commercial and domestic use.

The examinations are from the Kenya National Examination Council.

Studenta have the opportunity to practise their skills and develop sample clothing before their final examinations. This department admits only female students.

Islamic and Arabic Studies
Currently the department offers a learning opportunity in both oral and written Arabic language.

By the end of module one, the students shall be in a position to read, write and speak basic Arabic. modern teaching mothods are used in this department with a well equipped learning laboratory and audio visual aids for the students.
