Several sensors can be used in a smart lock to detect the state of the lock and door. For example, an accelerator or inertial measurement unit (IMU) to know when a door is open or closed. Motor subsystem includes both the motor driver and the motor used to actuate the locking mechanism. Smart locks commonly use brushed DC or stepper motors to move the locking mechanism.
