The United States of America is dedicated to eradicating hunger throughout the international community. This goal can be achieved through multinational partnerships and working closely with Non Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) and different civil societies. As our president has stated while at the World Economic Forum, “America first does not mean America Alone.” We would like to highlight Action Against Hunger (AAH), an NGO that is actively fighting hunger globally. They strive to end hunger through prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition. Their work is especially important in emergency situations and conflict zones. They work very closely with the World Food Programme (WFP). The United States would like to emphasize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Especially Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 17. By striving to achieve these SDG’s we can accomplish the goal of ending hunger through global partnerships.
The U.S. also stresses the role of multinational corporations in assisting developing countries. For example, Kraft Foods is a prominent multinational corporation and is the second largest food company in the world. The company’s brands are available in 150 countries globally. A central focus of Kraft lies in fighting hunger and promoting healthy lifestyles, Kraft Foods has supported WFP’s school meal programmes with donations since 2004. The United States would like to draw attention to Feed the Future, which is a crucial program that has been proven effective in many states. This is America’s dedication to combat global hunger and poverty. The program is designed to augment long-term food security and stimulate broad-based, long-lasting economic growth, which host countries ultimately own and lead. Feed the Future Program creates partnerships with many of American, multinational, and local companies that help achieve development goals and enable private sector partners to advance their net profit. Feed the Future’s private sector partners are thought leaders who bring accessible markets, revolutionary business practices and innovative insights to the table of development. These reciprocal partnerships pave the road for progress, along with promoting sustainable development and fostering private sector-led growth in emerging markets. Collaborations like these are indispensable to reducing poverty, fighting hunger and improving nutrition across the globe. We would like to encourage all member states to implement this program as it has created nearly 5,000 new public-private partnerships, leveraged more than 600 million dollars in private sector capital investment, and helped farmers generate more than 800 million dollars in new agricultural sales in a year.
